The company began life when Hamilton started to make durable and long lasting clothing for the railway workers in Detroit, pioneering the use of denim and brown duck canvas which has been used as a core material throughout the ranges ever since. Launched in 1994, Carhartt WIP (Work In Progress) is designed with the European market in mind and is widely regarded as one of the original pioneers of streetwear.
